The Unfinished Journey
They sit with the air of travellers, as if the bench were just a station on some longer road. One with her bright green skirt, patterned like a summer field. The other in soft linen, carrying herself like someone who has learned to slow down.
Perhaps they’ve just returned from somewhere far. Or perhaps they never left, and it is only their memories that travel stories swapped like postcards, told a dozen times but still new each telling.
You get the sense they know how to pause. How to take a moment in the middle of the day and make it matter.
It makes you wonder how often you stop. How often you let the weight of the day fall away, and sit still with someone who understands you without needing to ask.
