The Victorian Spectacle

Smoke curled from the food stalls as the scent of BBQ clung to the air. A man in a top hat tipped his head and vanished behind a puff of illusionist’s fog. Children shrieked with joy as jugglers spun colour above them and stilt walkers wandered by like forgotten giants.
I spent today at the Anderton Boat Lift’s Victorian Fair and it was pure magic.
They're celebrating 150 years of this iconic lift with a full weekend of free entertainment. Think circus skills, organ grinders, boat trips, LEGO workshops and aerial artists defying gravity above the River Weaver.
And it’s all happening again tomorrow.
